Married at First Sight Chapter 298

Chapter 298
John even picked up the scattered basket and fruits that Elisa had thrown out.
A fruit basket costs a few hundred dollars.
The Hunts would prefer to consume the fruits rather than give them to Serenity.
As if Serenity cared; it’s not like she had never eaten fruits before.
John rode in Mike’s car to Serenity’s shop. Once inside, he immediately called his boss, Mr. Ziegel, to explain the earlier incident.
Unfortunately, Mr. Ziegel was already informed by headquarters. Before John could finish, Mr. Ziegel expressed his disappointment. “John, the conflict between you and your cousins is straightforward and easily resolved. You could have sincerely apologized and issued a public statement. Not only would your cousins forgive you, but the online community would also move on, knowing you’re willing to admit your mistakes and improve.
“But what did you do? You’ve been on suspension for some time, yet you couldn’t even handle this situation. It has only escalated. You’ve angered Ms. Stone and disappointed headquarters. Please arrange a time to complete your handover at the office. I recommend you avoid job hunting for now; Ms. Stone will make it difficult for you to find work in the city.”
“Mr. Ziegel… Mr. Ziegel… I…”
Mr. Ziegel hung up on him.
Fuming, John felt the urge to smash his phone.
How was he supposed to know that Serenity and Elisa were close friends? It never occurred to him that Elisa would overhear his threats.
Behind the wheel, Mike asked his cousin, “Do you think there’s a way out of this?”
“I’ve been told to return to the office for a handover. Mr. Ziegel advised me not to look for a job right now because Ms. Stone will be out to get me.”
John felt bitter.
Mike

was equally furious. Ms. Stone was completely unreasonable. She had the audacity to accuse them of shamelessness when she was no better. She looked down on them simply because she was born into a privileged family. After a while, John bitterly remarked, “Now that they’ve kicked me out of the company, I’m going to apply for a job with their competitor. Joining York Corporation will be a breeze. Stone Group shouldn’t blame me for taking this step.”

“An eye for an eye. Do they think I can’t survive without Stone Group?”

Large companies often sought to acquire talent from rival firms to gain an edge. As a skilled asset from Stone Group, John believed York Corporation would gladly welcome him.

Once he established himself and climbed the corporate ladder, he would have the opportunity to undermine Elisa in Mr. York’s presence. Elisa could forget about marrying into the York family. The unreasonable woman did not deserve the heir of the Yorks or a position in the business world.

“Mike, we shouldn’t waste our time apologizing to Serenity. That brat won’t let us off the hook. She’s trying to force a public apology on Twitter. Well, good luck with that!”

John said maliciously, “Once I join York Corporation, I’ll drive a wedge between her and her husband and ruin their marriage. I want Serenity and her sister to suffer and regret what she did to me today.”

He had heard that Serenity’s husband worked at York Corporation, which would present numerous opportunities for him to befriend him as colleagues. It would be easy to create discord between the couple.

Mike replied, “Did you think I wanted to be involved in this? We’re facing serious consequences. My friends in the city have cut ties with me over this. I’ve spent years building my network, but I lost it all in an instant. It’s been tough on my business. Who would want to apologize?”

“Is it not to safeguard our financial interests?”
