Married at First Sight Chapter 280

Chapter 280
Josh was able to deduce that it was Shawn primarily because Shawn attended the business event at the hotel that evening. Although he held a minor position at Lowe Enterprise, he was the designated successor of the company. His title as the heir of the Lowes positioned him perfectly to be the center of attention and flattery at social gatherings.
Zachary’s silence was all the answer Josh needed.
“How about I deliver the file to you now? Are you staying at Brynfield?”
Josh was aware that his best friend kept the marriage private and had purchased a furnished place at Brynfield to test Serenity’s character.
“No need for that. Just give it to me tomorrow. It’s late. You should get some rest. I’m going to wash up and head to bed.”
Even though Josh had a front-row seat to the progression of Zachary and Serenity’s relationship, Zachary wasn’t in the mood to discuss it in detail with Josh. He quickly hung up the phone. Josh murmured under his breath, “Can you sleep well tonight? Your love rival took all the credit.” Only Zachary knew if he would get a good night’s sleep.
Serenity was not overly surprised by Shawn’s revelation; all she felt was anger.
“Thank you for informing me, Shawn.”
Rather than exploding, Serenity thanked Shawn and asked, “Do you have pictures of them?”
She needed concrete evidence that Shawn had indeed seen the cheating scoundrel, Hank. “I didn’t take pictures with them. I thought his name sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it. It only occurred to me that it might be your brother-in-law’s name when I got home. That’s why I called you. Serenity, tell your sister to quietly gather evidence and be vigilant in case he tries to hide assets.”
“Sure, I will. Thanks again.”
Shawn smiled and said, “No need to thank me.”

“I’m just the messenger, Serenity,” Shawn said. “I shouldn’t keep you from your rest. Goodnight, Serenity. Tomorrow morning, I’m going to stop by the shop to bring Jasmine her favorite breakfast. Join us and let’s enjoy breakfast together.” Although Shawn frequently delivered food to his cousin, he had other intentions in mind.

In reality, he wanted to deliver breakfast to Serenity. However, Shawn couldn’t openly express his true feelings. “It’s fine. Just bring breakfast for Jasmine. I plan to have breakfast with my husband before heading to work,” she replied. Zachary had mentioned that Shawn had feelings for her.

Serenity was uncertain whether Zachary was correct. Regardless, she felt it was time to maintain some distance from Shawn. He was no longer the child who cried on the floor when the girls excluded him from their games; he was now a grown man.

She intentionally brought up Zachary to remind Shawn that she was married. The moment she mentioned her husband, the smile on Shawn’s face faltered. It took him a moment to respond. “Goodnight, Serenity,” he said before ending the call.

After placing his phone on the bedside table, Shawn lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. The realization that Serenity, the girl he had a crush on for as long as he could remember, was married to someone else made his heart sink.

He understood that Serenity had married quickly to find a place to live, ensuring her sister felt comfortable. Shawn also recognized that Serenity never considered him husband material because he was three years younger than her.

To her, he was merely a younger brother.

Why did he have to be three years younger than Serenity? If only his mother had given birth to him earlier, perhaps Serenity wouldn’t see him as a younger brother but as a potential partner.

Mrs. Lowe would likely wonder why it was her fault if she could read Shawn’s mind.
