Married at First Sight Chapter 176

Chapter 176
Things were starting to get interesting.
Serenity had no idea that her partner had already addressed another one of her headaches in just a few minutes.
After cooking the spaghetti to al dente, Serenity plated it along with the tomato sauce. She topped it with diced pork belly and basil, but only added a light sprinkle of chili powder to her own serving. She was cautious, worried it might be spicier than she could handle.
Statistics indicated that Wiltspoonians generally preferred milder flavors in their meals.
“Mr. York, breakfast is ready,” Serenity called out.
She left the kitchen with her plate, gesturing for Zachary, who was on the swing, to join her at the dining table.
Zachary remained silent but got off the swing and left the balcony.
Noticing that his breakfast wasn’t on the dining table, he quietly went into the kitchen to retrieve his portion.
“You can add as much chili powder as you want. My sister loves spicy food, so she combines a variety of hot flavors for her own dishes.” Despite sharing the same mother, the sisters had very different tastes. Serenity typically added just a pinch of chili powder to her pasta but usually avoided hot spices altogether.
Her sister, on the other hand, enjoyed a lot of heat in her meals. She would liberally apply chili powder to her cooking, regardless of whether it suited the dish. Liberty even had several potted plants on her balcony, choosing to grow a variety of peppers from around the world that thrived in Wiltspoon’s climate.
“I don’t like anything greasy or—”
Serenity lifted her chin and smirked at Zachary. “Oh, you can’t handle greasy and spicy food, huh? Maybe I should add fats and chili powder to your dish for you to try.”
Zachary was left speechless.
He had inadvertently revealed his tiny weaknesses.
Serenity found Zachary rather dull as he—

Serenity solemnly consumed her meal with a straight face, aware that dining with him could ruin her appetite. Pulling out her phone, she scrolled through the news while enjoying her breakfast. Serenity quickly finished her meal, licking her plate clean. After putting her phone away, she stood up to take her dirty dish to the kitchen. As she rose, she noticed that the spaghetti and sauce on Zachary’s plate had been completely eaten, but the pork belly pieces and basil remained untouched in one corner.

Knowing that Zachary worked long hours, Serenity had added extra pork to his plate, fearing he might be starving. To her surprise, he hadn’t touched it at all, nor had he eaten the basil.

“Zachary,” she said, slamming the table to get his attention. When he looked at her, she pointed to his plate and asked, “Why didn’t you eat the pork?”

Zachary remained silent. As the heir of the York family, he had never consumed more than a handful of pork belly in his life; the saturated fats and grease were simply too much for him.

“I can understand skipping the basil since not everyone enjoys its taste, but don’t waste the meat. The price of pork has increased,” she admonished. Still silent, Zachary got up and walked away with his plate.

As he distanced himself from the conversation, Serenity complained, “I would have eaten the meat myself had I known. He has no appreciation for what I do for him.”

Zachary discarded his leftovers in the bin and washed his dish before exiting the kitchen. Noticing that his wife was still at the dinner table, he pulled out his wallet and took out a hundred-dollar bill. He approached Serenity and handed her the money.

“What’s this for?” she asked.

“I wasted the food you bought, so I’m paying you back for it. Stop grumbling like an old woman. I can’t handle high fat content, so you…”

Next time, don’t put it on my plate. It was true that he lacked the stomach for what she did for him.
