Married at First Sight Chapter 129

Chapter 129
“You’re a manager in the company, yet you hardly ever get the chance to meet your boss. He truly seems… unattainable and mysterious,” Serenity remarked.
There were no photos of Mr. York available online.
Mr. York was always accompanied by a security detail. At the last dinner party, there were so many tall, muscular bodyguards surrounding him that Serenity and Jasmine couldn’t catch even a glimpse of his face, despite their attempts to tiptoe.
Now that she realized Zachary, a white-collar employee at York Corporation, also rarely saw Mr. York, Serenity felt much better about her own situation.
Zachary did not continue the conversation.
He was indifferent to what others said about him and chose to act according to his own desires.
The couple discussed Mr. York before heading back to their block.
Zachary’s bodyguards roamed nearby. Although they did not closely follow Zachary and Serenity, the guards always kept an eye on the young couple, ensuring they remained within their line of sight wherever they went.
Unbeknownst to Serenity, she was being watched the entire time.
As Serenity turned her head, she inadvertently spotted a bodyguard lingering not far away. He looked familiar, so she paused and said to Zachary, “That man seems very familiar.”
Zachary was taken aback.
That was his bodyguard, Jim.
Jim was also surprised to see Serenity and Zachary looking directly at him. He quickly composed himself and approached them as if nothing was amiss.
This familiar man was the driver who had taken Zachary home when he was drunk that evening.
“Yes, that’s me,” Jim confirmed.
Serenity had a keen eye and a strong memory.
“Do you also live around…

“Are you here?”
“Yeah, but I’m renting the place. Normally, I drive for a ride-hailing service, and occasionally, I take on hire when they’ve been drinking.”
“Oh, okay.” Although Serenity recognized this driver, she was not well-acquainted with him and only greeted him today because they had met before. She didn’t dwell on it.
Zachary glanced at Jim, who immediately understood the message conveyed by his boss’s look.
In the future, Jim would need to be cautious while following Zachary in public to avoid being seen by Serenity, as it would inadvertently reveal his identity. If that happened, Jim would face serious consequences.
Once home, Serenity habitually sat on the swing while Zachary returned to his room.
They did not speak again that night.
The following day, Zachary was about to leave when Serenity finished making breakfast. “Mr. York, you haven’t had breakfast yet.”
Zachary adjusted his tie, and Serenity noticed it was the one she had gifted him.
She had thought he wouldn’t like it or wear it, so she was surprised to see him in it today.
“I have an early meeting and can’t be late. I’m worried about traffic, so I need to leave early. I won’t have breakfast at home and will order takeout later.”
“I’ve already made breakfast. Don’t order takeout. I’ll pack it for you so you can take it to the office.”
Zachary hesitated for a moment, finding it difficult to decline her generous offer, especially since her breakfasts were always delicious.
Serenity brought out an insulated lunch box, filling it with sandwiches, a hard-boiled egg, and some salad. She closed it before handing it to Zachary. “Eat it when you get to the office. Don’t work on an empty stomach.”
“Okay.”
