Married at First Sight Chapter 34

Chapter 34
The image that came to mind was simply unimaginable.
“Stay alert and keep our identities hidden from Serenity. Son, just tell her you don’t have a pension; that you make a living growing vegetables and flowers.”
“Make sure your stories are consistent. If you slip up, Zack will come after you. And don’t expect me to bail you out!”
Nana, amused by her grandson’s antics, was fully on board to help Zack maintain his cover.
She firmly believed that Serenity was a genuinely good person, not motivated by greed. At her age, Nana had become quite adept at reading people’s character.
“Understood,” everyone chimed in. They had previously met Serenity, who had once saved Nana’s life, so they held a deep gratitude toward her.
Zachary’s mother usually kept her distance, disapproving of Grandma May’s constant nudging for her son to settle down. However, her resistance proved to be in vain as Nana successfully convinced her proud son of the merits of the idea.
While Zachary’s mom appreciated Serenity for rescuing Nana, she also secretly wished that the two would eventually part ways peacefully, sensing they weren’t entirely compatible. Nevertheless, she wouldn’t interfere with Serenity to honor Nana’s wishes and let things unfold naturally.
“Nana.”
The young couple approached, drawing nearer.
Serenity greeted the elderly lady with a bright smile before turning to acknowledge Nana’s sons and daughters-in-law.

Serenity had a brief encounter with Zachary’s family before, but it was just a passing moment. Among the few young and attractive men present, she had not yet had the chance to meet them. However, Serenity suspected they were Zachary’s brothers and cousins.

“Nana, you should really call Tania and Liam ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad,’” Nana joyfully suggested to Serenity. Tania Reading was Zachary’s mother, while Liam, her husband, regarded Serenity with a friendly expression. He had faith in his mother’s instinct that Serenity was a good person. An open-minded parent, Liam allowed his sons the freedom to manage their own lives without interference.

In contrast, Tania struggled to accept Serenity as her daughter-in-law. Yet, her upbringing taught her to conceal her feelings behind a polite demeanor, so she offered Serenity a warm smile instead. Following Nana’s advice, Serenity addressed Liam and Tania as instructed.

“It’s quite warm out here, Nana. Let’s head upstairs,” Zachary suggested in a deep voice. Nana called on other family members to assist Serenity with the food wagon while she insisted on helping her up the stairs, despite being perfectly capable herself.

Before long, they arrived at the couple’s cozy home. Serenity took the lead in hosting the family, encouraging everyone to sit down while she served drinks and fruit. “Come on, Serenity. Zack will introduce you to everyone,” Nana urged.

Taking a moment to admire her grandson’s home, it was clear that Serenity’s artistic touch had made it inviting. Nana, eager for Serenity to mingle with the younger generation, pulled her away from the snacks and shot an annoyed glance at Zachary, urging him to introduce Serenity to his family. Zachary replied softly, “You can introduce yourselves to my wife.”

The young men, starting from Zachary and moving to the youngest, greeted Serenity with polite courtesy.
