Arriving at the hospital late at night meant they would have to wait their turn in the emergency department.

After a twenty-minute wait, they finally approached the doctor. The first question he asked was, “What brings you here tonight?”

Kenneth shooed Christopher out of the room before turning to the doctor and saying, “Doctor, I think I’ve suddenly become impotent. Can you please check what’s wrong with me?”

“Impotent?!” The doctor exclaimed in surprise. “Impotence is typically a neurological issue and not an emergency. I recommend you come back tomorrow morning to see a specialist in the andrology department. Our emergency department mainly handles urgent cases like headaches, fevers, accidental injuries, and spasmodic conditions.”

Kenneth retorted angrily, “But my impotence is an emergency! Why can’t I get treated right now?!”

Clearing his throat, the doctor responded in an uncomfortable tone, “In all my years as a physician, I’ve never encountered sudden impotence. This condition usually follows a gradual decline. It starts off okay, then gradually worsens until it becomes fully dysfunctional…”

Kenneth’s face flushed a deep red; he hadn’t expected such a detailed explanation. “Are you out of your mind? I came here for you to check me, not for a lecture! Just do your job!” he yelled.

The doctor, now offended, shot back, “What is wrong with you? I’ve already told you this isn’t an emergency case. If you shout at me again, I’ll have to call security!”

“You…” Kenneth gritted his teeth in anger. After a beat, he pointed at the computer and said coldly, “Look up the Modestway Group.”

“Huh?” The doctor frowned, confused.

The doctor, taken aback by the abruptness of Kenneth’s request, nonetheless started typing out the name, and soon enough, he found the company’s website. To his surprise, there was a portrait of its chairman, Kenneth Wilson.

Wait a minute—this man looked just like the agitated person sitting in front of him!

Oh no! He was a VIP!

The doctor quickly adjusted his tone, speaking respectfully, “Mr. Wilson, welcome to our hospital. I apologize for not recognizing you earlier. Please forgive my oversight…”

He then added hurriedly, “Please tell me again what happened, and I’ll do my best to arrange for you to be admitted right away so a specialist can examine you.”

Kenneth’s demeanor softened slightly, though he was still irritable. “Nothing happened between yesterday and today; everything was fine yesterday, and now it’s just unresponsive.”

The doctor inquired, “Is it completely unresponsive?”

“Yes!” Kenneth growled, “Totally unresponsive!”

“Hmm, it could be related to the nervous system. Mr. Wilson, I’ll have a neurologist come and see you immediately, if that’s alright?”

Kenneth waved his hand impatiently. “Make it quick!”

The doctor swiftly contacted a colleague in the inpatient department to arrange for the necessary tests and admission. Given the late hour, the outpatient doctors had already left, leaving only those in the inpatient department and the night shift on duty.

Coincidentally, one of the doctors working that night was the same one who had treated Jacob after his spinal injury just a few days prior. With a serious expression, he conducted a series of tests on Kenneth and reviewed the results.

Lying on the examination bed, Kenneth was overwhelmed with fear and dread.
